March

Barn Work Day - Sunday, March 21, at the rescue barn. Come for a barn yard spring clean up. Bring tools for cleaning inside the barn and outside the barn. Shovels, wheelbarrows, rakes, brush cutters, sponges, gloves, etc. The fun begins at 9 a.m. and we generally work until noon.

7th Annual Gala Wine Tasting - Sunday, March 28, from 3 to 6 pm. Treat yourself to an afternoon of elegance at the four-star Castle Restaurant on Route 9 in Leicester, MA. Tickets including wine & beer are $30/person in advance or 4/$100 ($35 each at the door) or new this year wine, beer & liquor for $40/person in advance or 4/$140 ($45 each at the door). Equine Orientation Program - Saturday, April 10th, from 10 am to noon. Pre-registration required. Whether you're young or old, come take our class to learn the basics of horse care. We've designed our course for those who will volunteer at BSER, are thinking of buying or adopting a horse, or who simply want to learn more about horses through hands-on experience. Please consider making a donation to support this program so we may continue our mission to end neglect.

Horsemanship Program! - Classes start Sunday, April 11th.Registration ongoing. Start your classes anytime.
True horsemanship starts long before your foot goes in the stirrup. As any horse person will tell you, riding is a reward for the many hours spent on the daily upkeep and maintenance of a horse. This program includes all aspects of horse care and management, as well as riding. It is open to all ability levels. e-mail info@BayStateEquineRescue.org to sign up for your classes .

Bay State Equine Rescue Annual Sponsored Trail Ride - July 11th “Rise And Shine” “Raise and Support”
Location: Old Sturbridge Village
Registration: 6 a.m.
Ride Out 7 a.m.
This year our ride supports two worthy causes, Bay State Equine Rescue and Old Sturbridge Village.
Take a ride through yesteryear when horses were the only way to get around. Ride right through downtown Sturbridge Village.
There is no fee to participate on this ride. You simply solicit sponsors from your friends, co-workers, neighbors and relatives who would like to help our worthy cause, but, don’t know how. You offer them the opportunity to support our equine friends and Old Sturbridge Village at the same time. The minimum sponsorship is $40 pre-registration/$60 post-registration, you can get a t-shirt for $75, and additional prizes for the top fund raisers. All horses get a gift of treats. Seventh Annual Gigantic Yard Sale - Saturday, July 31, from 8 am to 2 pm. We've done it before, and we'll do it again. We're just not sure the Rutland Grange Hall on Route 122A is going to be big enough! We'll have something for everyone: items for the house, yard, barn, horse, garage - all priceless treasures, all for the right price. Donations are welcome.
